Martin Keown delivers Everton, Luton Town, Wolves and Burnley Premier League verdict

Martin Keown has urged Luton Town to sort themselves out in the games against Everton, Wolves and Burnley if they are to avoid relegation.

Speaking to the Daily Mail on Friday (22 September), Keown delivered his verdict on the newly-promoted side who’ve struggled thus far.

They sit in 20th place with four losses in as many games and have scored just two and conceded ten goals.

Keown said, “If you lack a balanced game plan, the Premier League is so ruthless and unforgiving that it will eat you up and spit you out.

“Luton’s season needs to start on Saturday, at home to Wolves.

“I’ve seen a whole-hearted dedication to defending from Rob Edwards’ team, but nowhere near enough commitment to attacking. There needs to be a better balance and this is the beginning of a three-game run against opponents in the bottom five — Wolves at home, Everton away, Burnley at home — which will shape their season.”

Everton need wins too

The Toffees have started the season horribly and will be desperate to get some wins on the board as soon as possible.

There may be financial troubles but three straight seasons of relegation battles are not what the club should be fine with.

Money is tight at the club, surely, but they’ve brought in decent players this summer so Dyche needs to be getting the best out of them.

The Luton clash is a definite six pointer and it remains to be seen which Toffees side shows up for that one.

Over the last two seasons, they’ve been extremely flaky – losing against teams they shouldn’t and picking up rare wins against some of the top sides.

There are no excuses for not picking up maximum points from the Luton game and they’ve got to ensure they do exactly that.

In other Everton news, a condition has now emerged on Sean Dyche being sacked amid trouble behind the scenes at Goodison Park.
