Kansas State running back Dylan Edwards has been named to the Paul Hornung Award preseason watchlist, which highlights the nation’s top versatile players. Edwards first gained attention during his freshman year at Colorado, particularly with a standout performance in the season opener against TCU. In that game, he totaled 159 yards and scored four touchdowns, leading the Buffs to a surprising 45-42 victory. However, his season did not continue at that high level, as he didn’t score again until the final game and ended with a total of 620 yards of offense for the season.
Now, Edwards is set to begin a new chapter after transferring back to Kansas State, the university he originally committed to before shifting his commitment first to Notre Dame and then to Colorado. This move brings him closer to his high school in Derby, Kansas, and offers a fresh start for his college career. His inclusion on the Paul Hornung Award watchlist reflects the high expectations for his performance this season.
In addition to Edwards, the Big 12 Conference has nine other players on the watchlist. Among them is Travis Hunter, Edwards’ former teammate at Colorado and the 2023 Hornung Award winner. The other Big 12 players featured are Major Everhart of TCU, Preston Fox from West Virginia, Parker Kingston of BYU, Drae McCray from Texas Tech, Jaylin Noel of Baylor, Brennan Presley of Oklahoma State, Richard Reese from Baylor, and Cam Skattebo of Arizona State.
