The Light Blues are reportedly set to complete their second signing of the January window with the 22-year-old likely to become a Rangers player in the next few days [Four Lads Had A Dream, 21 January], after Fabio Silva joined the ranks at Ibrox on loan from Wolves.
However, it seems unlikely that he will be the last arrival on the blue side of Glasgow before the end of the month, with Heart and Hand host Edgar suggesting that both he and Philippe Clement expect the Gers to make more additions.
Replying to a supporter who asked about future business on X (21 January) he said: “Yes I do. Manager has said he expects a ‘couple’ of signings.”
More to be done
With Silva, Clement has begun to address the lack of firepower in his squad and with Diomande, the Belgian will have hoped to add some depth and steel to Rangers’ midfield which has recently been ravaged by injury.
Those were the primary areas of concern for most supporters and now they will be hoping that the Light Blues will be able to add a couple more flashes of quality to their team before the transfer window draws to an end.
Another new number nine will likely remain top of most fans’ shopping lists as neither Cyriel Dessers nor Silva have been prolific throughout their career, while both Kemar Roofe and Danilo have been unable to keep themselves fit and available consistently.
There will be a late push at Ibrox to get at least one more deal over the line once Diomande is confirmed as a Rangers player. Hopefully, the Gers won’t have left their business too late and will be able to sign the reinforcements that Clement is pushing for.
