Tottenham Hotspur are now preparing an offer to sign Club America defender Sebastian Caceres ahead of the January transfer window.
Mexican international Sebastian Caceres is emerging as a new defensive target for Tottenham Hotspur.
That is according to El Universal, who claim that Tottenham are now ‘preparing an offer’ to sign Caceres.
Tottenham have been adding defenders for the future with Ashley Phillips and Luka Vuskovic signing.
Eric Dier could go in January though, potentially opening a spot for another first-team defender to arrive when the transfer window opens.

A new name in the mix is Club America defender Sebastian Caceres.
Record over in Mexico report that Tottenham have joined Sevilla and Flamengo in the race to sign Caceres.
El Universal add that Tottenham are already ‘preparing an offer’ to sign Caceres in January.
They do though add that Caceres has ‘has not yet won over Club América fans’, with his Uruguay national team form ultimately driving the interest.
Caceres has become a regular starter for Uruguay under Marcelo Bielsa and was praised in the media for nullifying Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison last week.
Caceres has allegedly put himself on Tottenham’s radar now but we think Tottenham may actually target a homegrown defender rather than another import.
Trevoh Chalobah, Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo have all been linked and made more sense than Caceres with Spurs targeting homegrown players of late.
Who is Tottenham-linked Caceres?
Caceres hails from Montevideo and came up in the Liverpool Montevideo ranks before earning a 2020 move to Club America.
Now with more than 100 appearances for Club America to his name, Caceres has been a regular starter in Mexico.
Caceres isn’t the tallest centre back at 5ft 11in tall but he has really impressed Bielsa and has now earned seven Uruguay caps.
FOX Sports in Mexico suggest that Bielsa has told Caceres to make a move to Europe in 2024, so we can expect to see rumours in the coming months.
Caceres feels like a surprise target for Tottenham but could join forces with compatriot Rodrigo Bentancur in North London, offering support for Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
