It has been 24 years since Simon Jordan bought Crystal Palace, remaining as chairman until they went into administration in 2010.
The boyhood Eagles fan helped the club – who were previously hours from extinction – reach the Premier League within four years. However, they only lasted one season until they were relegated to the Championship.
Jordan went onto struggle with financial difficulties and the club were plunged into administration, while his ownership was brought to an end.
The 56-year-old hasn’t returned to a football club since and now acts as a presenter in talkSPORT, though he has recently admitted that if he was to buy another club, it would be Sheffield Wednesday.

Jordan appears to be a huge fan of the Owls and their fanbase, and he has now claimed that it wouldn’t take him very long to make the club ‘successful’.
Speaking on talkSPORT (11:57), he said: “I was saying to Martin (O’Neill) without getting too far up my own backside, if I had been the owner of Sheffield Wednesday, with all due respect to my affection for Palace, then I would have gotten far more support from the townhall, you would have been given all the support you could have been given. In London sometimes, it doesn’t fly that way.
“But, I just think, if you have got Sheffield Wednesday right, then you wouldn’t have far to travel to get them successful because they are a big football club. Look at their fanbase. Look at what they did in the playoffs last year when they turned out after getting battered by Peterborough in the first leg. Look at the fanbase they have got, look at their average attendance this year.”
Is the talkSPORT presenter a good candidate?
Simon Jordan clearly has a soft spot for Sheffield Wednesday and the praise he gives the fans is very true.
However, supporters shouldn’t get too excited about a potential replacement for Dejphon Chansiri, because it doesn’t mean he would be great either.
While he initially saved the club from extinction, Jordan also take them to dangerous lows too, and Wednesday have already had enough problems financially.
It is likely just a passing comment though and it would be surprising if Jordan pursued his interest, or even returned to football at all.
