During a recent Super Bowl Radio Row appearance with the CHGO Bears, Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and New Orleans Saints receiver Chris Olave were asked about their thoughts on the hiring of former Seahawks star Shane Waldron as the new offensive coach for the Bears. Smith-Njigba had previously worked with Waldron and gave a surprising reaction that may have burst the fans’ excitement bubble.
Regarding his subject, it seemed that the 21-year-old rookie’s response was to appreciate his coaching technique, or at the very least, to wish him well on his new venture. But just as shocking to the Bears supporters as it was to everyone else, Smith-Nijgba’s unusual response.
Following a lengthy silence that seemed to reflect Smith-Njigba’s feelings toward Waldron, the rookie for the Seahawks questioned:
Smith-Njigba made an effort to correct his remarks and give them a more upbeat tone, but there seemed like something was off in his voice. Additionally, Smith-Njigba said:

The Seahawks wide receiver also started talking to Justin Fields, the starting signal-caller for the Bears and a former teammate at Ohio State. He believed that once Fields and Waldron receive additional assistance, they will be a fantastic match.
Shane Waldron’s meager offensive output does not match Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s outstanding figures.
Under OC Waldron, rookie Smith-Njigba played just one season, and it went really well for him. This season, he participated in 17 games and caught 63 receptions for 628 yards and four touchdowns. However, Smith-Njigba’s diligent labor was mostly responsible; Waldron didn’t make a significant contribution.
The Seahawks offense suffered greatly with him as the offensive coordinator, finishing the season ranked 17th in terms of points per score and 21st in total yards gained.
He is expected to start for the Bears the following season after he parted ways with the Seahawks. The Bears will also have the advantage of having the first choice in the NFL draft in 2024.
