NRL ace Herbie Farnworth has tipped England to shake up Australia in 12 months’ time and dropped a hint about a possible Super League move.
The 24-year-old centre was born in Burnley, but joined Brisbane Broncos as a teenager before moving to their Queensland rivals Dolphins ahead of the 2024 season.
He was man of the match when England wrapped up a 2-0 series whitewash of Samoa with a 34-16 victory at AMT Headingley on Saturday, crossing for two tries just six days after grabbing one in the opening 34-18 success at Wigan.

NRL ace Herbie Farnworth has tipped England to shake up Australia in 12 months’ time and dropped a hint about a possible Super League move.

If he stays fit, Farnworth, who has touched down 42 times in 99 NRL games since his debut in 2019, will be a key man for England in next year’s Ashes series, which was originally set for Down Under but is likely to be switched to his country.
Playing against the Kangaroos’ best on a weekly basis, Farnworth knows what England will be up against in 2025 and he reckons they can do more than just compete.
“This Test series was a success and we’re building now for the Ashes next year,” Farnworth said.
“Samoa are a top-class team, full of talent and to get two wins against them is a job well done.
They came out firing and it took us a while to get our rhythm and how we wanted to play but in the end, we managed to get in the arm-wrestle and get over the top of them.
“We have got a very, very talented team, full of young talent, but the most important thing is we are all willing to work hard as well. When you add those two things together, it is a pretty good process.”
On a personal note, Farnworth insisted: “It is always nice to test yourself against the world’s best.
“Australia are number one for a reason so it will be a good marker for the World Cup [in 2026], but I think we have got the talent here and the hard workers to get the job done next year.
“We are definitely up there [with Australia]. The last two matches have shown we’ve got some very talented lads. Mikey Lewis, Man of Steel, was on the bench for us, so that shows how good our depth is.

“Junior Nsemba is only 20, he’ll have another full year of Super League under his belt and he’ll be coming right into his prime.”
Farnworth joined Brisbane straight from school and hasn’t played at professional level in England. He conceded a Super League career is “always in the back of my mind”, but stressed: “At the moment I am really enjoying myself over there.
“I love testing myself week-in, week-out. We have got a great club at the Dolphins and some great young talent. I am enjoying myself, but maybe one day I might be in Super League, you never know.”
