Eels five-eighth Dylan Brown could be headed north on an even more lucrative contract after his manager put the Kiwi international on the open market.
The Dolphins have emerged as a possible destination for the 24-year-old after reportedly discussing making a play for the talented playmaker.
With veteran Kodi Nikorima nearing the end of his career, the Dolphins have a vacancy at five-eighth after this season and Brown would be an ideal halves partner for young gun Isaiya Katoa.
The Dolphins would have to splash the cash to the tune of more than $1 million per season to snare Brown away from Parra.
Signed until 2031 on a deal worth just shy of seven figures per season, Brown is already one of the NRL’s highest earners but there is a clause in the silky playmaker’s contract that allows him to leave the club at the end of 2025 if he is able to reach an agreement with a rival club before Round 10.
Brown is being shopped around to rival NRL clubs after his manager, Chris Orr, emailed clubs earlier this week spruiking his client’s services for 2026 and beyond.
“I am disappointed that my actual email to CEO’s/head of football/ NRL coaches/recruitment managers has been leaked within minutes to the media,” Orr wrote after reports about his email broke soon afterwards.
The email sent by Orr’s Pacific Sports Management agency to unspecified NRL teams described Brown as a “franchise player” and included links to the 24-year-old’s highlight reels.
Please revert back to Gavin and I on email to register your clubs interest in securing the services of Dylan Brown for season 2026 and beyond,” the email read.
“Once we finalise the level of interest, we will work with you to set up an appropriate time to catch up with Dylan. These type of “Franchise Players” dont [sic] come on the market very often.”
The 24-year-old is currently one part of arguably the best halves combination in the NRL along with Mitchell Moses after Jarome Luai’s cross-town move to the Wests Tigers and is an attractive proposition to a club with salary cap room or a willingness to shuffle pieces around to fit the New Zealand representative into their squad.
Parramatta are also susceptible to losing Moses in a similar way, with the halfback’s contract also containing a get-out clause at his discretion.
