According to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com, the family of former Bears defensive tackle Steve McMichael initially believed he had pneumonia but later discovered he was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. As a result, McMichael was admitted to intensive care. The family released a statement expressing their gratitude for the prayers and requesting continued support for McMichael’s swift recovery.
It was recently announced that McMichael had been selected for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. McMichael enjoyed a fifteen-year NFL career, beginning with his draft by the Patriots in 1980 and subsequent release after one season. He then played for the Bears from 1981 to 1993 before concluding his career with the Packers in 1994.
McMichael gained prominence as a member of the renowned 1985 Bears defense, which triumphed over the Patriots in Super Bowl XX. In 1988, he led the Bears with an impressive 11.5 sacks.
Sadly, in 2021, McMichael received a diagnosis of ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
