Danny Rohl has given Sheffield Wednesday fans a promising transfer update.
Sheffield Wednesday have got straight to it in the January window, signing Brighton goalkeeper James Beadle and Troyes striker Ike Ugbo in recent days.
While The Owls have enjoyed some brilliant form that has seen them climb to within three points of safety in the Championship, Danny Rohl is still eager to bolster his ranks to increase their chances of staying up.
After making two new signings already this week, the Sheffield Wednesday manager has now claimed that the club would welcome another fresh face through the door today.
Speaking on further signings in yesterday’s press conference, Rohl said: “To say a number is difficult because you don’t know what’s going to happen, but in my mind I know which positions we need… It could be that we have the next signing today or tomorrow, we’re very close, and then we’ll see what more we can do.
“It’s been a good week for the club, we’ve”had some good talks with players who are not here, but there’s still work to do. In the market things can change very quick.”
Who could Sheffield Wednesday be about to sign?
Given that Ugbo was the only arrival yesterday, we could well see Sheffield Wednesday add to their incomings later today.
It’s unclear who that will be though, with The Owls previously linked with a move for West Ham midfielder Conor Coventry.
However, Charlton Athletic have now confirmed that the 23-year-old has joined the club on loan.

It’s unclear whether Coventry was the signing that Rohl was originally talking about, but it seems highly likely that their next arrival could still be a midfielder after missing out on him.
The Championship outfit are also interested in signing Isaac Hayden, who has just been recalled from his loan spell with Standard Liege by Newcastle United.
It is thought that Sheffield Wednesday are joined by Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers in their pursuit of the 28-year-old, though it is unclear whether it could be the deal that gets wrapped up as soon as today.
With Tyreeq Bakinson’s move to Charlton confirmed last week, Rohl is likely to be looking to bolster his midfield options ahead of the trip to Southampton tomorrow.
George Byers is set to serve the third match of his suspension after he was sent off against Preston North End last month, while Will Vaulks remains out after picking up an injury in the same game.
