West Brom star gives Corberan easy contract decision with 100% display v Hull

Alex Mowatt gives Carlos Corberan easy decision with 100% display in West Brom v Hull City

West Brom are enjoying a superb run of form, with Carlos Corberan’s men now currently fifth in the Championship table.

They are just one point off Southampton in fourth and two points behind Leeds United in third after a 3-1 win against Hull City.

Jed Wallace, Matt Phillips and Semi Ajayi scored the goals in the victory at The Hawthorns on Saturday (4 November).

It was another superb team performance from the hosts, but one player that really stood out was midfielder Alex Mowatt.

As per Sofascore, the 28-year-old registered a 92% pass success rate, made one key pass and won all five of his ground duels (100%).

Moreover, the central midfielder made a match-high four tackles, as well as chipping in with one clearance and one blocked shot.

His boss will be extremely pleased with the display, but it should also have the man in the dugout thinking about the long-term future of the player.

Mowatt’s contract at The Hawthorns is rapidly drawing to a close, with his current deal expiring in June 2024. Corberan will have plenty of things on his mind as the season goes on, with promotion right up there in his thoughts given the club’s current standing.

But convincing Mowatt to commit himself to the Baggies for another couple of seasons should also be a priority. The Albion can continue their fine run when they meet Southampton away from home next Saturday (11 November), in a match where Mowatt must once again be used from the very start.
