The Broncos have reportedly come to the table with an increased offer to retain veteran playmaker Adam Reynolds after a shock recruitment move from the Tigers.
That is according to Code Sports, who are reporting Brisbane powerbrokers and Reynolds have agreed to a one-year extension for the 2026 season.
That deal is set to be signed within the month, with the club reportedly hopeful of having the fresh contract signed before Round 16.
Reynolds shocked the NRL world on Thursday afternoon, revealing the Tigers had been in contact regarding a potential move.
The veteran halfback was also under no illusions the Broncos were facing a salary cap headache, with a host of players coming off contract.
“It’s about trying to work through certain scenarios, and keep a lot of (Broncos) players at the club, which isn’t easy,” he said on Triple M.
“There’s obviously talk about, but for me I’m trying to secure my future here at the Broncos.”
Reynolds preference is to remain at the Broncos, however he could reportedly earn north of $700,000 on the open market.
However, the gun halfback is reportedly willing to take a pay cut and has also been offered roles beyond his playing days to remain in Red Hill.
Reynolds could be set to become an assistant coach or an ambassador of the club once he hangs up the boots at the end of the 2026 season.
“Unless a deal can’t be done at Brisbane, there’ll be no further conversations with anyone,” Reynolds’ manage Steve Gillis said.
“It’s not a bidding war, it’s not about seeing who comes up with the biggest offer. The Tigers aren’t the only club we’ve had a conversation with.
“I’ve had chats with a couple of clubs saying, ‘If he doesn’t stay and he wants to play on, we may engage in a chat’.”
In a bid to clear salary cap space to retain Reynolds, understudy playmaker Jock Madden has reportedly been informed he is free to negotiate with rivals.
Meanwhile, Martin Taupau has been released and Fletcher Baker could also be on the chopping block.
