The Denver Nuggets took a 3-2 series lead when they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 5 of their first-round series in the NBA Playoffs. To some, this could be a shocking result, especially since the Nuggets weren’t coming into the playoffs on necessarily their best foot. Just days before the end of the regular season, the Nuggets made headlines around the league for their decision to fire championship-winning head coach Michael Malone. Shortly after, the organization announced it was also firing general manager Calvin Booth.
Nikola Jokic statistics prove dominance Despite the personnel changes, the Nuggets are now just one win away from advancing to the second round of the playoffs. Before game five, much of the series was on the weight of Nikola Jokic’s shoulders. However, Jokic received help in a big way with Jamal Murray scoring 43 points. Some detractors of Jokic might look at his box score from last night and scoff at the fact he scored just 13 points. He finished with a triple-double, which should come as no surprise at this point.
