The league fan favourite was dumped from his radio role after 17 years.
Just two months after being cruelly dumped by Triple M, rugby league great Mark Geyer has found a new home on one of the game’s most iconic radio programs. Big MG will join Paul Gallen, Josh Morris, Darryl ‘The Big Marn’ Brohman and Mark ‘Piggy’ Riddell on 2GB’s Continuous Call team in 2025 after signing a three-year deal with the leading Sydney AM station.
Geyer will also be heard daily on GB’s Drive program as well as the Wide World of Sports show, hosted by respected journalist Adam Hawse, on weeknights. The 56-year-old admitted to some dark times after Triple M abruptly pulled the plug on him after 17 years, cutting him from their morning show in Sydney following Mick Molloy’s return to Melbourne.
Asked if he felt in no man’s land after being let go, Geyer told Yahoo Sport Australia: “Yeah, I suppose I did. “It’s hard when you don’t see it coming. I’ve been in radio since I retired from footy and, at 56, I don’t have too many more strings to my bow.
“At the time I honestly didn’t know where I was going to end up but my missus (Megan) is a very positive woman and she kept telling me something would come up. I love the medium of radio and the chance to connect directly with the audience and I’m rapt to be back on air talking footy.”
Pressed on whether he felt angered by Triple M’s decision to flick him, Geyer said: “I have no reason to. I had 17 great years there. “I know how the media works and nothing lasts forever. I wish the new (morning) show (featuring former NRL players Beau Ryan and Aaron Woods) all the best. I’ve got no ill-feeling at all, it’s done.”

Geyer will join the Continuous Call team for its 39th season on air, reconnecting with a program he was heavily involved with during his playing days. He said: “There was nothing better as a player than having (sideline eye) Tony Megahey whack the headphones on you after a game and talking to Bozo (Bob Fulton), Chippy (Peter Frilingos) and Ray (Hadley) up in the box.
“I spoke to the boys plenty of times back in the day and listened in when I wasn’t playing. It’s an iconic program and to be amongst it is fantastic. I can wait to rip in with the other boys.”
Confirming his move to 2GB during the Ben Fordham breakfast show on Wednesday, MG said: “I must confess it’s daunting walking down the corridors of 2GB and (seeing pictures of) all the famous celebrities who have walked the halls. But this is where the big mountain man wanted to be. I’m pumped.”
