Former Auburn QB TJ Finley Pursues Fourth Transfer, Seeks Medical Redshirt for 2024 Season
Former Auburn quarterback TJ Finley has announced his intent to transfer for the fourth time in his college football career. Currently at Western Kentucky, Finley revealed on Saturday that he will enter the NCAA transfer portal while seeking a medical redshirt for the 2024 season.
Finley, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 3 against Middle Tennessee, started the Hilltoppers’ first two games this season, including a rough opener against Alabama where he threw for 92 yards and two interceptions.
The 6-foot-7, 238-pound quarterback began his collegiate journey at LSU in 2020, transferring to Auburn after his freshman season. During his two-year stint at Auburn, he recorded 1,258 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions across 13 games before leaving at the end of 2022.
Finley’s best season came at Texas State in 2023, where he threw for 3,439 yards and 24 touchdowns, leading the Bobcats to an 8-5 record and a First Responder Bowl victory. However, Texas State’s addition of Arizona transfer Jayden de Laura prompted Finley’s move to Western Kentucky.
This latest transfer marks yet another chapter in Finley’s tumultuous college career, with his next destination likely shaping the final stretch of his collegiate journey.
