Lagway, considered one of the most promising recruits in recent years, sees Napier as central to revitalizing Florida football. A New Chapter for Florida Football
Lagway, now 3-0 as a starter when playing full games, led Florida to an emotional 27-16 upset over No. 22 LSU, a win that puts the Gators within reach of bowl eligibility. This victory came shortly after Athletic Director Scott Stricklin issued a controversial vote of confidence for Napier, a decision met with skepticism from fans but seen by Lagway as a turning point.
“That was the vibe in the locker room: ‘We’re going to change this place, and we’re going to make it what it used to be,’” Lagway shared after the game.
Recruiting Efforts Reignite
Lagway’s early commitment to Florida made him a key figure in the program’s recruiting efforts, contributing to its seventh-ranked class in 2024. Lagway remains optimistic, making a strong pitch to undecided players: “We’ve got the best fan base in the country. We’ve got coaches that care, will develop you, and ensure you become a better player and person both on and off the field.”
