Xavier Willison, the promising Broncos prop, is determined to team up with Payne Haas in 2025 and silence critics questioning the club’s forward depth. Despite the departure of Thomas Flegler to the Dolphins, Willison is confident that the Broncos have the strength to contend for a premiership title.
After re-signing with Brisbane until 2027, the 22-year-old is focused on earning a starting position and backing up the team’s title aspirations. While Haas struggled with injuries last season, Willison believes that he and fellow young forward Ben Te Kura can provide the necessary support to rejuvenate the Broncos’ forward pack.
“We’ve got a lot of depth with young players like me and Benny,” Willison said. “We just need to stay fit and healthy. My goal is to secure the starting spot next year, so I’ll put in the work this preseason.”
Willison, who joined the Broncos from New Zealand, expressed his desire to remain with the club, which believed in his potential from the start. Haas has already returned to training early, and Willison is among several trial players aiming to impress new coach Michael Maguire.
