WVU Football Reveals Uniform to Counter Cincinnati’s Black

West Virginia University (WVU) football is set to face Cincinnati in the first of a crucial stretch of games to close out the 2024 regular season. For this game, the Mountaineers will wear a blue helmet, white jersey, and gold pants, an ensemble revealed by the team in a social media video.

Historically, WVU has dominated this rivalry, leading Cincinnati 17-3-1 in all-time matchups. However, despite this record, the odds are now in Cincinnati’s favor, with both teams returning from bye weeks. Initial betting lines from DraftKings and FanDuel placed Cincinnati as a 3.5-point favorite, which has since widened to 4.5 points. Circa Sports further tipped the scales for Cincinnati, opening with a 4-point advantage for the Bearcats.

Currently, WVU holds a 4-4 (3-2 Big 12) record, while Cincinnati stands at 5-3 (3-2 Big 12). The teams last met in 2023, where WVU decisively defeated Cincinnati 42-21 in Morgantown in their first Big 12 conference showdown.

The Mountaineers’ standing in ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) also shifted during their bye week. WVU dropped six spots from No. 48 to No. 54, while Cincinnati also saw a slight decline, currently ranked at No. 40.
