The Denver Nuggets ended the Oklahoma City Thunder’s undefeated streak on Wednesday night, and Russell Westbrook didn’t hold back afterward, making a strong statement.
“They have the best record right now, but I believe we’re the better team,” Westbrook commented after the close win against OKC, who entered the game with a 7-0 record.
The Nuggets started the season slowly, dropping three of their first five games. However, their victory over the Thunder marked their third consecutive win, bringing them to a 5-3 record.
Westbrook, stepping up in the absence of Jamal Murray (out with a concussion), had his standout game for Denver, scoring 29 points, adding six rebounds, six assists, and shooting 10 of 15 from the field. He also praised Peyton Watson for his clutch block on Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
With forward Aaron Gordon sidelined for several weeks due to a calf injury, Westbrook and Watson’s efforts will be crucial as Denver faces upcoming challenges, including games against the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks.
