The Houston Texans faced disappointment from fans after the NFL trade deadline passed without the team making the anticipated moves. Instead, Texans’ General Manager Nick Caserio, known for his willingness to make off-season moves, chose to stay relatively quiet during the deadline.
However, the Texans did make one last-minute trade, though it was not the one fans had hoped for. Caserio sent defensive tackle Khalil Davis to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a seventh-round pick, a move that also freed up a roster spot. This opening allows the Texans to reintegrate players Jeff Okudah and Jerry Hughes. This is also the second time in recent years that the 49ers have traded for a Houston defensive lineman.
Despite the anticipation that Caserio might make bold moves, particularly given the Texans’ needs, the team opted not to pursue additional trades to strengthen their roster. Now, the Texans must proceed with their current lineup as they prepare for a challenging schedule, starting with a game against the Detroit Lions, followed by matchups with the Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans. Fans remain anxious to see if Caserio’s confidence in the team’s current roster will be enough to sustain them through the season’s more demanding weeks ahead.
