Arsenal training footage reveals absent stars ahead of Tottenham clash and Reiss Nelson reminder

Arsenal have released part two of training footage ahead of the North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur, and the latest one doesn’t appear to include Gabriel Martinelli either.

As several members of the Gunners’ first-team squad – including Martin Odegaard, William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka – began preparations for the game by taking part in a gym session on Friday at London Colney, there was no sign of Martinelli in the batch of images.

And roughly 24 hours before kick-off at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal’s ‘Inside Training’ video was uploaded and once again the Brazilian was not spotted. Of course, it could be that he was been present but simply not caught on camera by the club’s photographer.

The reason for the concern over Martinelli is down to his substitution in the first half of last weekend’s win over Everton with a muscle injury that forced him to sit out the 4-0 win over PSV Eindhoven a few days later. Mikel Arteta, however, did not rule the Brazilian out of the North London Derby and a similar stance was reiterated in his pre-Tottenham press conference.

A key player for Arsenal and ever-present in the Premier League so far this season, it’s understandable that some supporters will be questioning Martinelli’s involvement against Spurs following his absence in both pieces of training footage.
