Reading recorded a club-record 9-0 away win at Exeter City last night in the EFL Trophy.
300 supporters made the trip down to Devon for the midweek encounter, just three weeks after the Royals lost 2-1 to the Grecians in League One.
Here are five things you may have missed in all the pandemonium.
Record win
A basic one to start off, but it became the club’s biggest victory in any competition for 122 years.
In 1901, the Biscuitmen defeated Chesham 11-0 in the FA Cup which remains the record.
However, the win is also a record for the entire competition, with nobody having won so emphatically since the EFL Trophy came into existence in 1984.
It is the club’s biggest away win since it was founded in 1871.
Taylan Harris
Not too many supporters will have heard of the 17-year-old midfielder, Harris, before last night’s victory.
However, many certainly will now.
Coming off the bench late into the tie, he netted the club’s seventh and became the club’s second-youngest goalscorer of all time, behind England midfielder Neil Webb.
In an eight-minute cameo, the Academy graduate also picked up an assist and very nearly bagged himself a brace as his effort curled just wide.
The teenager is now the 32nd Academy graduate to score for the Royals, and the 77th overall to make a first-team debut.
Attendance coincidence
A little strange coincidence from last night was the attendance.
Announced midway through the game, it certainly got supporters talking on social media after discovering 1,871 tickets were sold.
For those that have not noticed, that is the same as the year in which Reading were founded.
Written in the stars? Surely not.
281 fans were credited with travelling down, however, it certainly appeared more than that on the night.
