THIS CAN’T BE: UNBELIEVABLE RUMORS SURROUNDING NATHAN CLEARY AND MARY FOWLER

Rumors regarding Nathan Cleary’s future in the NRL have sparked considerable concern among fans, particularly suggesting that the star halfback may be contemplating a move to the UK. Speculation has emerged that Cleary wants to be closer to his girlfriend, Mary Fowler, as their relationship grows despite their geographical separation.

According to reports from News Corp, both Cleary’s agent, George Mimis, and Panthers CEO, Brian Fletcher, have denied any discussions about a potential move. Earlier this year, Cleary hinted at the possibility of playing in the UK, where Fowler currently plays for Manchester City. This led to further speculation that he might take a year off to join a Super League club.

While the rumors have caused unease among Panthers supporters, it seems unlikely that Cleary will make such a move. He is contracted with the Panthers until the end of the 2027 season, and discussions about extending his contract further were reported as early as July. The club is aiming for a lucrative $13.5 million deal that would keep both Cleary and his father, Ivan, who is also his coach, in Penrith.

In February, ahead of a World Club Challenge match against Wigan, Cleary expressed an openness to experiencing different cultures, indicating he was not entirely opposed to a Super League stint. He fondly recalled his time in Manchester during the 2021 World Cup and mentioned enjoying the anonymity of being in the city compared to Sydney.

In an interview, he noted the charm of living a more ordinary life without the pressures of fame. He acknowledged the passionate nature of English fans and hinted that he might consider a move “down the track,” but emphasized his current priorities with the Panthers, including winning another Grand Final.

The latest rumors are not the first instance of Cleary’s personal life capturing public attention. Following a recent match against the Gold Coast, teammate Brian To’o jokingly fueled speculation about Cleary and Fowler during a post-game interview. To’o playfully suggested that fans were excited about the couple, even claiming they were engaged, though it was clear he was joking.

Cleary and Fowler only officially announced their relationship in April, having begun dating in November. Despite the challenges of a long-distance relationship, they have made time for each other, especially after Cleary’s injury sidelined him earlier this year. Photographs of them together in Sydney showcased their comfort in the public eye.

As the two prepare for significant matches—Cleary with the Panthers facing Cronulla and Fowler performing well with Manchester City—the focus remains on their athletic commitments. Fowler recently excelled in the Women’s Champions League, scoring in a decisive victory for her team.

Ultimately, while rumors about Cleary’s future and his relationship with Fowler persist, both athletes are currently focused on their respective careers and upcoming challenges.
