JOKIC’S HOMEcoming: NBA Champ Ditches Hero’s Welcome for Family’s Harness Horse Race in Serbia

Nikola Jokić, the NBA Finals MVP, led the Denver Nuggets to their first-ever NBA Championship, and while he was thrilled with the win, he’s not as excited about the post-championship obligations that come with it. As soon as the final buzzer sounded, Jokić celebrated with his family, including his brothers and daughter, and later shared a special moment with them and his wife, holding his two NBA Finals trophies. However, as the celebration continued, Jokić’s excitement began to wane, and he started to feel drained. He was overwhelmed by the constant attention and his phone blowing up with messages.

Despite the excitement of the moment, Jokić’s mind was already on returning home to Serbia. He expressed his desire to skip the championship parade and head back to his homeland, where he can be with his horses. Throughout the night, Jokić’s love for his horses was evident, and he even mentioned them during the locker room celebration. The Nuggets’ efforts to bring a taste of Serbian culture to Denver only made Jokić miss his home country more.

Jokić’s desire to return home is understandable, given the grueling NBA season and postseason. He’s eager to unwind and reconnect with his roots. While he’s grateful for the championship win, he’s ready to leave the spotlight behind and enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation in Serbia. The championship parade and other obligations can wait; Jokić’s heart is already back home.
