In a surprising turn of events, 4-star defensive lineman Antonio Coleman has once again committed to Auburn football, marking his second flip from Alabama. This announcement came amidst a busy Big Cat Weekend, with Coleman choosing to make his decision in the evening after initial recruiting activities had begun early that Saturday morning.
Coleman, currently ranked as the 20th defensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class and the 13th top recruit from Alabama, first committed to Alabama in September. Following his initial pledge, Coleman visited Auburn in October and switched his commitment to the Tigers in December. However, he later reversed his decision in March and re-committed to Alabama after another visit to Tuscaloosa.
Despite his commitment to Alabama, Coleman continued to engage with Auburn, making additional visits in March and June. His latest official visit to Alabama took place the previous weekend, but he ultimately decided to reaffirm his commitment to Auburn during Big Cat Weekend.
Coleman’s decision was significantly influenced by Auburn’s defensive line coach, Vontrell King-Williams. Coleman praised King-Williams for his straightforward approach and dedication to player development, emphasizing the positive impact this had on his choice. “He’s a great coach,” Coleman remarked, noting that King-Williams’s commitment to helping players improve was a major factor. He also highlighted the appealing atmosphere and the playing opportunities at Auburn as key reasons for his decision.
Coleman’s commitment to Auburn marks the fourth addition to the Tigers’ recruiting class for the day and the second defensive player to join the 2025 class, following Blake Woodby. Coleman’s announcement brings the total number of commitments for Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class to 18.
