There’s plenty of movement going on in the NRL after just one round.
The Sydney Roosters are said to be keen on signing Francis Molo from the Dragons, sparking more questions about why they let Terrell May walk to the Wests Tigers. And Tigers halves Jarome Luai and Lachie Galvin have both been linked to the Parramatta Eels to replace Dylan Brown.
The Roosters have been absolutely decimated in 2025 having lost over 1000 games of NRL experience in the off-season. As well as Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Luke Keary moving to the English Super League, Joey Manu and Joseph Suaalii switched codes to rugby union.
Sam Walker and Brandon Smith won’t play until mid-season, and Nat Butcher and Victor Radley won’t play this weekend either. It all culminated in a 50-14 thrashing at the hands of the Broncos in Round 1, sparking fears the Roosters could be heading for a wooden-spoon finish.
To fill the void, the Roosters have reportedly expressed an interest in wantaway Dragons forward Molo. The former Queensland State of Origin forward hasn’t been training with the Dragons this year and is unlikely to return to the club after taking offence to a comment made by a club staffer.
After reports emerged about Molo potentially joining the Roosters on Tuesday, fans questioned why they let May join the Tigers if this was the solution. May was allowed to leave the Roosters around the time they thought they’d signed David Fifita, only for him to backflip and stay at the Titans. The Roosters also made a play for Ben Hunt and Ryan Papenhuyzen in recent times, but are lacking some serious star power after missing out on both.
Mikaele Ravalawa on cusp of joining South Sydney
Another Dragons player linked to a rival club is Mikaele Ravalawa, who has reportedly undergone a medical with South Sydney. Ravalawa has fallen out of favour with Shane Flanagan at the Dragons, but would be a valuable pick-up for the Rabbitohs amid some injury carnage in their outside backs.
Ravalawa’s exit would allow the Dragons to grab David Klemmer from the Tigers, which in turn would free up the Tigers to sign May’s brother Taylan. The former Penrith Panthers winger had domestic violence charges dropped on Tuesday, and was immediately linked to joining his brother at Benji Marshall’s team.
Jarome Luai and Lachie Galvin both linked to Parramatta
But things appear dire for the Tigers in terms of their star halves, with Galvin and Luai both being linked to the Eels. Parramatta are set to lose Dylan Brown to the Newcastle Knights on a 10-year deal worth $13 million.
Brown’s move sparked immediate speculation that Galvin could leave the Tigers and join the Eels due to the fact he played juniors in the Parramatta competition. Curiously, Galvin ‘liked’ a comment on social media calling on Parramatta to sign the 19-year-old.
