Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven have been urged to sign Malik Tillman in a £12 million deal with the former Rangers ace shining after leaving Bayern Munich on another loan deal.
How early is too early to label a team ‘champions-in-waiting’?
We only ask because PSV Eindhoven, in the first week of December, are already ten points clear at the top of the table. A lead Arne Slot – head coach of reigning champions Feyenoord – deems insurmountable. PSV have won every single one of their 14 league games so far too, with arguably Rangers’ stand-out attacker from 2022/23 contributing healthily with five goals and two assists from his 10 appearances.

Malik Tillman is yet to establish himself is a regular starter under Peter Bosz. A testament to the power of PSV’s squad, surely one of the strongest rosters in recent Dutch football history.
But Bjorn van der Doelen, who spent seven years at PSV from 1994 to 2001, believes that Tillman has done more than enough in his eye-catching cameos off the bench to justify triggering the £12 million purchase option in the Bayern loanee’s contract.
“I think he is a great football player. He is unemotional but that is also his strength. The calm he has in such a match,” Van der Doelen tells the Skiete Willy Podcast.
“Technically, he is good. He ke
eps the ball at his feet when it is important (to do so). And he is strong, without being very aggressive in the duels. He is difficult to shake off the ball. He also scores easily.
“(Tillman) plays football beautifully. I think that PSV should exercise the option (to sign him permanently).
“I am charmed by him and I think PSV and Bosz too.”
£12 million deal on the cards
Tillman has a long way to go to match his tally of 12 goals from that Rangers spell. He is, however, just one shy of his total of five assists from 2022/23. the US, international further enchancing the decision-making and the ruthlessness which had already come on leaps and bounds in Glasgow.
