He envisions Ewers spending a year as a backup to veteran quarterback Geno Smith, who recently signed a $75 million contract with Seattle and is under contract through 2025. This arrangement would allow Ewers to learn from Smith and Seahawks offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, ultimately positioning him to take over as the starting quarterback in 2026.
