Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has been actively traveling to high schools over the past week, but his visit on Wednesday afternoon stands out as one of the most significant. According to DawgsHQ, Smart, accompanied by offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo, is in Nashville to meet with five-star quarterback Jared Curtis at Nashville Christian. This visit is particularly notable because it is the only opportunity Smart has to see Curtis in person outside the Georgia campus until December.
This marks Georgia’s second visit to Nashville for Curtis, with Bobo having made a trip to see the star quarterback just last week. Curtis, who was previously committed to Georgia for about seven months—spanning March to October—decided to reopen his recruitment in order to explore other options and take official visits. Despite this, Georgia has remained heavily involved in pursuing the highly coveted quarterback.
Curtis has already scheduled three official visits, and Georgia is among the selected schools. He is slated to visit Athens on June 13, following a trip to Oregon on June 6. South Carolina will host Curtis on June 20, while Alabama is actively working to secure an official visit. Meanwhile, programs like Auburn, Ohio State, and several others remain in contact with Curtis as they attempt to stay in the race. According to Steve Wiltfong of On3, Georgia appears to be a strong contender for Curtis, who is ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect in the nation.
“I still believe Georgia’s relationships with Curtis and his family are the strongest,” Wiltfong shared earlier this week. He noted that Mike Bobo recently spent nine hours with Curtis and his family during an in-home visit, underscoring Georgia’s dedication to recruiting the talented quarterback. Smart and Bobo are scheduled to return to Nashville later this week, emphasizing the Bulldogs’ focus on securing Curtis.
Wiltfong also pointed out several factors working in Georgia’s favor. The program’s proximity to Curtis’s home, their consistent contention for national championships, strong relationships with the coaching staff, and a promising depth chart that offers the potential for early playing time all place Georgia in a favorable position. “As of now, I still feel confident about Georgia’s standing in Curtis’s recruitment,” Wiltfong stated.
Beyond his visit to Nashville, Smart’s recruiting efforts have extended to other prospects. On Thursday, he traveled to Cartersville, Georgia, where he visited Brodie McWhorter, a quarterback from Cass High School in the class of 2026. This highlights Smart’s commitment to identifying and building relationships with top-tier talent for Georgia’s football program.
