Stafford, a four-star recruit from the Class of 2023, ranked as the 17th cornerback and 156th overall player nationally according to the On3 Industry Ranking. During his time at Miami, he appeared in 13 games, recording seven total tackles, one pass breakup, and catching a pass for a seven-yard gain in his freshman season. However, he struggled for playing time, only logging 37 snaps this season with a secondary that faced significant challenges.
With the transfer portal for the winter window now open until December 28, Stafford has three years of eligibility remaining and could potentially withdraw his name and return to Miami in the spring.
In addition to Stafford’s departure, it has been reported that Robby and Bobby Washington will also enter the transfer portal. Robby saw some action early in the season but received limited playing time during the ACC games.
As Miami navigates these changes, they may need to adjust their roster ahead of the upcoming bowl game, especially with the thin cornerback depth.
