The rumors gained traction earlier this week when Jay Crawford of the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show suggested Meyer might be open to returning if approached, citing sources close to the program. Crawford claimed Meyer “never wanted to leave Ohio State” when he stepped down in 2018 after a successful seven-year tenure with the Buckeyes.
Despite the chatter, Meyer has consistently maintained his retirement from coaching, even after a brief and tumultuous stint with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021. Since then, Meyer has found a comfortable role as an analyst for FOX Sports, appearing on the Big Noon Kickoff pregame show every Saturday during the college football season.
