BREAKING: Gators Make Late Push to Flip Four-Star Tennessee Commit

The Florida Gators are making a bold late push to secure a flip from four-star defensive back Onis Konanbanny, who has been committed to Tennessee since August. Konanbanny’s recent visit to Gainesville during Florida’s upset victory over No. 9 Ole Miss has reignited speculation about his recruiting future.

Konanbanny was joined at the Swamp by several key players, including South Florida Express teammate and recent Gators commit Tramell Jones Jr., a quarterback who flipped to Florida after decommitting from Florida State. Another significant influence in this recruitment is class of 2025 wide receiver Vernell Brown III, also a South Florida Express alum and Gator pledge. Brown has been vocal in his efforts to sway Konanbanny to join Florida’s 2024 class.

Florida’s momentum on the recruiting trail has been fueled by several high-profile flips, including four-star linebacker Ty Jackson from USC and quarterback Jones. These moves have pushed the Gators’ recruiting class into the top 20 nationally, and they are determined to add more marquee names before Early Signing Day.

Konanbanny’s Recruitment Heating Up

Konanbanny’s visit to Florida marked his first official trip to another program since committing to Tennessee in August. Prior to his commitment, the standout defensive back took visits to Florida State, LSU, and Utah.

This season, the Heathwood Hall Episcopal School (SC) product has been a force on the field, racking up 64 tackles, three fumble recoveries, and one interception. His impressive performance has made him a highly sought-after recruit as programs jockey to secure his signature.

What’s Next?

With Early Signing Day just around the corner, it remains unclear whether Konanbanny will finalize his decision in December or wait until the regular signing period in February. Florida’s secondary coach Will Harris has been instrumental in bolstering the Gators’ defensive backs unit, and landing Konanbanny would be a major win for the program.

Can the Gators complete another high-profile flip and further strengthen their 2024 class? Or will Konanbanny remain loyal to the Volunteers? The clock is ticking, and all eyes are on Gainesville as this recruiting battle unfolds. Stay tuned.
