Even during a bye week, Taysom Hill’s incredible performance in Week 11 continues to draw accolades. The New Orleans Saints’ versatile weapon delivered one of the most dominant displays of the season in their decisive 35-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns, earning him the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award.
Hill’s historic outing saw him tally 138 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just seven carries, averaging an astonishing 19.7 yards per carry. He also added 50 receiving yards on eight catches and completed an 18-yard pass, putting his all-around abilities on full display. According to ESPN Research, Hill is the first player since Ed Podolak in 1971 to record three rushing touchdowns, at least 50 receiving yards, and a pass completion in a single game.
Saints head coach Darren Rizzi acknowledged the team’s focus on getting Hill more involved in the game plan, which paid off handsomely in their Week 11 victory. “When he touches the ball, it affects the game tremendously,” said Rizzi. “Sometimes he doesn’t even have to touch the ball to have an impact—his presence alone changes the game.”
Rizzi revealed that reviewing game tape highlighted the importance of utilizing Hill more often. “We collectively felt that we needed to get this guy the ball more. If you look at our wins this season, Taysom’s numbers are pretty good.”
Hill’s performance contributed significantly to the Saints’ highest-scoring game of the season, solidifying his role as a game-changer for the team. With a bye week to rest and regroup, the Saints will look to carry this momentum into their Week 13 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
