Ja’Kayden Ferguson, a 4-star wide receiver from Texas, has officially reopened his recruitment after initially committing to Kentucky just five months ago. Ferguson announced on social media, “My recruitment is 100% back open I am no longer committed to the University of Kentucky please respect my decision.”
The Fort Bend Marshall standout recently visited LSU, signaling his interest in exploring additional options beyond Kentucky. At 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds, Ferguson is ranked by Rivals as a top-40 player in Texas for the 2025 class.
Ferguson’s commitment in June was an early recruiting success for Kentucky’s wide receivers coach Daikiel Shorts Jr. However, the college football landscape remains highly unpredictable, and Ferguson’s decision highlights the ever-changing dynamics of recruitment.
As he reopens his recruitment, Ferguson has offers from several powerhouse programs, including Alabama, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Oregon, Oklahoma, and LSU, among others.
