Tennessee Volunteers head coach Josh Heupel has revealed the perfect nickname for backup quarterback Gaston Moore: “Gas Pipe.” The nickname came to light during a cinematic recap video of the Vols’ win over Mississippi State, where Heupel addressed his team at halftime after starting QB Nico Iamaleava was ruled out for the second half.
“Eight’s out right now, we got Gas Pipe (Gaston Moore), let’s go play ball,” Heupel said, and the nickname quickly caught fire. Known for his fearless playing style, Moore certainly earned the moniker after drawing three defensive pass interference penalties in the third quarter against Mississippi State. If Iamaleava can’t go against Georgia this weekend, fans may get to see “Gas Pipe” take the field in a high-stakes SEC matchup.
