Vols HC Josh Heupel Shares Honest Take on Opposing Fans Storming the Field After Beating Tennessee

Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel has experienced the highs and lows of field storming, having seen his own fans rush the field after major wins, as well as witnessing Arkansas fans do the same following their victory over Tennessee this season.

When asked about field storming during the SEC coaches teleconference, Heupel embraced the tradition, recognizing it as a unique aspect of college football. “It’s a passion thing,” he said, emphasizing the connection between fans, students, and alumni. While acknowledging that it’s more enjoyable when you’re on the winning side, Heupel underscored that these moments create lasting memories, which are a testament to the intense buildup and excitement of big games in college football.

Rather than criticizing the practice, Heupel celebrated the energy and enthusiasm fans bring to the sport, making it clear that he values the emotional investment college football fosters.
