Matt Olson recently opened up about the heartfelt messages he received from his wife Nicole and his mother

Matt Olson, the Atlanta Braves’ star first baseman, recently opened up about the powerful influence his family has on his career and the record-breaking season he’s had. As he led the league in home runs, Olson credits much of his success to the support and encouragement he receives from his parents, Scott and Lee Olson, who have been there for him since day one.

In a candid interview, Olson shared how his parents’ values and relentless support have helped shape his career. “My dad always taught me about discipline and hard work, while my mom reminded me to keep things in perspective and enjoy the journey,” Olson said. Their advice became his foundation, grounding him both on and off the field, especially during challenging moments in his career.

The impact of their support goes beyond pep talks, as Olson carries certain rituals inspired by his parents into each game. He explained that he maintains a routine they instilled in him as a young athlete: focusing on the basics, trusting in his abilities, and staying mentally strong. Olson’s connection with his family isn’t just about encouragement, but a deep-rooted belief in resilience and consistency, which he attributes to his parents’ guidance.

Reflecting on his journey, Olson admitted that while he’s grateful for his achievements, his family constantly reminds him to stay humble and true to himself. “The records and stats are great, but at the end of the day, it’s about playing the game I love and making my family proud,” he said.

This family-driven motivation is what Olson believes allowed him to excel and make history with the Braves this season, setting records while staying grounded in the values his parents instilled in him from the start.
