Auburn’s recruiting efforts have reached a fever pitch as they set their sights on flipping one of the nation’s top prospects, five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord, from Ohio State. With National Signing Day fast approaching on December 4, the Tigers are determined to add Offord to their 2025 class, which currently ranks No. 5 nationally according to 247Sports.
Offord, a standout from Birmingham, Alabama, has been committed to Ohio State since February 2024. However, Auburn’s relentless pursuit of the 6-foot-1 cornerback has kept the Tigers firmly in the race. On3’s Steve Wiltfong has predicted a 60% chance that Offord will flip to Auburn, with the decision ultimately coming down to the Tigers, Ohio State, and Oregon.
Offord’s potential flip would be a game-changer for Auburn, as it would make him the third five-star recruit to join the Tigers’ 2025 class, and the highest-rated recruit in the class. Currently, edge rusher Jared Smith from Alabaster, Alabama, holds that honor, sitting at No. 25 nationally.
Offord, who ranks as the No. 1 cornerback and No. 4 overall prospect in the country according to ESPN, made his fourth visit to Auburn this season during the Tigers’ thrilling, four-overtime upset of Texas A&M. The atmosphere in Jordan-Hare Stadium left a strong impression on both Offord and Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze, who emphasized the importance of the victory for the future of the program.
If Auburn successfully flips Offord, their 2025 recruiting class would rise to No. 2 nationally, surpassing Alabama, Ohio State, and Texas. This would further solidify the Tigers’ strong recruiting efforts, particularly in-state, where they have already secured nine of the top 10 prospects. The addition of Offord would place him among the highest-rated recruits in Auburn history, rivaling past stars like Tray Blackmon, the No. 5-rated recruit in 2005.
