Inside Look at Oregon Ducks’ Electric Uniform Choices: Kenny Farr Shares the Process
Oregon Ducks’ uniforms are legendary, setting the bar for creativity and flair in college football. In a recent episode of The Big Mark Show, Oregon’s football equipment administrator Kenny Farr sat down with offensive lineman Marcus Harper II to give fans a behind-the-scenes look at how the team’s eye-catching uniform combinations come together.
Farr, a University of Oregon alum and long-time member of the Ducks’ equipment staff, works closely with Nike to bring unique designs to life. He’s been instrumental in Oregon’s innovative equipment, including the heat-reactive, color-changing cleats introduced in 2023. Farr also works with a committee of veteran players like Traeshon Holden, Jeffery Bassa, Tez Johnson, and Marcus Harper II to decide which uniform combinations will appear in specific games.
One of Farr’s standout designs is the Stomp Out Cancer uniform, created in collaboration with OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, a project that’s close to his heart. He explained, “Everybody knows someone affected by cancer… it’s cool to bring some awareness and encouragement.”
Farr and the committee often debate the best games for specific designs. In one discussion, Tez Johnson advocated for the Ducks’ all-black “Fly Era” uniforms to be worn against Washington, but the team ultimately chose to debut them against Ohio State.
This Saturday, the Ducks are unveiling their latest look against Michigan: an all-white “Warp Speed” uniform with a chrome helmet, chrome facemask, and silver winged gloves. The No. 1 Ducks, with an 8-0 record, face off against Michigan at the Big House, hoping to continue their dominant season on CBS at 12:30 p.m. PT.
