Texas Coach Steve Sarkisian Discusses Recruiting Strategy as Season Nears End
Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian is gearing up for a crucial November as he aims to finalize the recruiting class of 2025. With only two home games remaining this season — against Florida on Nov. 9 and Kentucky on Nov. 23 — Sarkisian’s recruiting strategy is focused on maintaining the team’s winning momentum, which he believes will help secure the last few recruits.
“We’ve been fortunate to get a lot of players, a lot of kids, to games,” Sarkisian said. “Both should be great games, great environments. So that really doesn’t change.”
While Texas would ideally host recruits at packed night games, Sarkisian is confident that the team’s success can offset the lack of big home matchups. Most recruits have already attended a game this season, giving them a sense of the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium atmosphere.
This weekend, Sarkisian and his staff will travel nationwide to visit high school prospects as Texas enters a bye week. Currently, the Longhorns’ 2025 class ranks sixth nationally, with 21 commitments, including 14 highly-rated recruits.
Sarkisian sees the team’s success as its strongest recruiting asset. “Sometimes the best recruiting tool we have is being a successful football team,” he explained, highlighting the appeal of joining a competitive program in a vibrant city like Austin.
With the early signing day approaching on Dec. 4, Sarkisian remains focused on keeping Texas competitive in both recruiting and gameplay, aiming to bring the Longhorns back to the SEC championship game and attract top talent for the future.
