Texans Place WR Stefon Diggs on Injured Reserve
The Houston Texans announced that wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been placed on injured reserve following an ACL tear sustained in Week 8, which will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season. With an estimated recovery time of nine to twelve months, his availability for the start of the 2025 season is also uncertain.
Diggs, currently in the final year of his contract, will become an unrestricted free agent in 2025. The 30-year-old wide receiver, originally drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, had signed a five-year, $72 million extension with Minnesota in 2018. However, in 2020, he was traded to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for multiple draft picks, including a first-rounder.

In 2022 and 2023, Diggs was set to earn $11.775 million and $11.85 million, respectively, before the Bills extended his contract by four years for $104 million. The Bills then traded him to the Texans in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick, with Houston restructuring his deal to make him a free agent after the 2024 season.
This season, Diggs appeared in eight games for Houston, recording 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns, along with eight rushing yards and an additional touchdown. Further updates on Diggs’ status will follow as available.
