Three Auburn Tigers Players Receive SEC Honors After Kentucky Victory
Following their recent victory, three Auburn Tigers players have been recognized with weekly SEC honors for their outstanding performances in Week Nine. Running back Jarquez Hunter earned the title of SEC Offensive Player of the Week, while defensive lineman Keldric Faulk was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week, and offensive lineman Izavion Miller took home the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week award.
Jarquez Hunter’s Remarkable Performance
Jarquez Hunter, a senior from Philadelphia, Mississippi, delivered a standout performance against Kentucky, rushing for a career-high 278 yards on 23 carries and scoring two touchdowns. He also contributed to the passing game with four receptions for 19 yards, bringing his total all-purpose yards to an impressive 297. Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze lauded Hunter’s achievement, noting, “Jarquez’s performance was one of the best in school history. I think it’s the most rushing yards against an FBS team in SEC play in the history of Auburn.”
Keldric Faulk’s Defensive Impact
Sophomore Keldric Faulk, hailing from Highland Home, Alabama, had a strong showing on the defensive side, recording three tackles and two sacks during the game against Kentucky. This marked his third multi-sack game of the season, showcasing his prowess on the defensive line. Coach Freeze expressed his appreciation for Faulk, stating, “Obviously, we love Keldric. He’s the most solid player we have.”
Izavion Miller’s Consistent Play
Senior Izavion Miller, from Memphis, Tennessee, has been a key player on the offensive line since joining the team before the 2023 season. In the victory over Kentucky, Miller helped lead the offensive line to a penalty-free performance, contributing to the team’s overall effectiveness on offense.
These honors represent some of the first accolades for the Tigers this season, and the team hopes to continue this momentum. Auburn will look to replicate their success against Kentucky as they prepare to face Vanderbilt this Saturday at home.
