Texas Rangers Hitting Coach Tim Hyers Joins Braves Following World Series Run
Tim Hyers, the Texas Rangers’ hitting coach for the last three seasons, has left the team to take the same position with the Atlanta Braves. The move allows Hyers, an Atlanta native, to be closer to family. Hyers was a key figure in the Rangers’ 2023 World Series triumph, and his impact was recognized by the organization, which expressed understanding and gratitude in their statement.
Hyers’ coaching career includes previous stints with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox, where he helped lead successful offenses, including a 2018 World Series win with Boston. Under Hyers’ guidance, the Rangers’ offense improved significantly, going from one of the worst in the league in 2021 to leading the American League in runs scored in 2023.
However, Texas faced struggles at the plate in 2024, dropping in batting average and runs scored, leading to a less explosive offensive performance. Now, the Rangers will be looking for a new hitting coach to fill Hyers’ shoes as he transitions to the Braves.
