Now that the Horns are officially in the SEC, fans are having to adjust their regularly scheduled rivalries to focus on a few new opponents.
As Texas prepares for its first football season as a part of its new conference, the Longhorns only have a losing record against two SEC programs.
In other words, the Horns have the upper hand on 13 of the 15 other SEC teams and the teams that have bested Texas might surprise you.
Overall, Texas is 255-145-13 against teams that are in the Southeastern Conference.
Here is the Texas Longhorns’ record against all 15 teams currently in the SEC:
Recently, the rivalry between the Horns and the Crimson Tide has been reborn. Ever since the 2009 National Championship game, when Alabama upset Texas, the two have been bitter opponents.
Texas has a 6 game lead on the Tide for now and the two rivals are not scheduled to play each other in 2024.
The first time the Longhorns and the Razorbacks played was in 1894 and the Horns walked away with the victory.
Most recently, the Razorbacks squashed the Horns’ hopes for good showing against their future SEC opponent in 2021.
The last time the Tigers and Longhorns met on a football field was in 1991, nearly 35 years ago.
Texas has lost just three games against Auburn and has walked away victorious five times. On average, the Horns have outscored the Tigers by 2.5 points per game.
Surprisingly, the Horns have only faced the Gators three in the past. Unsurprisingly, Texas has won two out of the three matchups between the two teams, the only game the Horns didn’t win was a tie.
Texas and Florida are scheduled to play in Austin on Nov. 9, 2024.
The Georgia Bulldogs have only defeated in the Longhorns once in history.
Meanwhile, Texas has walked away victorious on four separate occasions, including the (in)famous Sugar Bowl after which Sam Ehlinger called out, “We’re baaaaaaaack.”
In the only matchup between between Texas and Kentucky, the Longhorns walked away with a minimal 7-6 victory over the Wildcats.
Keep in mind, the only time these two programs have shared a field was in 1951. Texas and Kentucky are scheduled to play in Austin on Nov. 23, 2024.
