The Indianapolis Colts are poised to enter the next phase of the offseason on Monday as the open negotiating period commences at noon ET, presenting an opportunity for them to address their various needs. Despite having considerable salary-cap space compared to other teams in the NFL, it is unlikely that the Colts will engage in a flurry of high-profile signings. While they may explore the possibility of trading for a star cornerback, General Manager Chris Ballard has consistently expressed his intention to avoid overpaying in free agency.
However, the presence of several impressive defensive free agents hitting the market this offseason could potentially influence the Colts’ approach. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that Ballard will deviate entirely from his established strategy.

Linebacker
One notable Colts’ free agent is Ronnie Harrison. While adding a third linebacker (LB3) might be a consideration, the Colts currently have Zaire Franklin and E.J. Speed as their starting tandem at the position. Additionally, they have re-signed Segun Olubi, who has displayed promise as a depth linebacker.

One notable Colts’ free agent is Rigoberto Sanchez. As of now, Sanchez has not been re-signed by the team. However, there is a possibility that he could be re-signed before noon on Monday, which would remove the punter position from the list of needs entirely.

Another notable Colts’ free agent is Danny Pinter. While some depth could be beneficial at the interior spots, it is unlikely that the Colts will make major changes to the unit considering the strong performance of the offensive line in 2023.
