Kalen DeBoer observed that calling plays during Alabama’s game against Wisconsin was notably easier due to the impressive performance of Alabama’s offensive line. The Crimson Tide’s offense managed to score 42 points against the Badgers, with quarterback Jalen Milroe contributing to 35 of those points while operating behind a solidly performing offensive line. Additionally, running back Jam Miller had a standout moment with a significant run through a sizable gap.
DeBoer noted that the effectiveness of the offensive line had a significant impact on play calling. He explained that the line’s ability to protect Milroe and ensure he remained upright and unhurried made a substantial difference. “It’s incredible how much easier play calling becomes when you are in more favorable down-and-distance situations,” DeBoer said after the game. “Being able to protect the quarterback means he can make every throw effectively without being pressured or having to throw the ball away due to being hit.” DeBoer was impressed with the offensive line’s performance, especially given it was their first game together, and appreciated their synchronization, which allowed for a balanced offensive strategy that effectively combined both running and passing plays.
Looking ahead, the offensive line will have some time to rest over the next two weeks before facing a challenging Georgia defensive front.
