Newcastle won their first Tyne-Wear derby since 2011 and they are certainly making the most of it after a dominant performance in a 3-0 thrashing of Sunderland in the FA Cup yesterday.
After the game, the club posted their match report on their website with a secret message hidden in the first letter of every paragraph, spelling out some Geordie phrases.

If the result wasn’t embarrassing enough, Sunderland fans won’t be too impressed with what the media team at Newcastle did on their site after the final whistle was blown at the Stadium of Light.
The first three paragraphs of the match report spelled out ‘SMB’, while the next three spelled out ‘UTM’ and the final three spelled out ‘HWTL’.
At this point, with the victory confirmed and Newcastle having absolutely thrashed Sunderland, this was just adding salt to the wounds, but the Geordie supporters will certainly appreciate it nonetheless.
It’s not been a great couple of months for the Magpies, but they are really going to enjoy this win before facing Manchester City in their next Premier League game next weekend
Newcastle gain huge confidence boost
Newcastle simply had to win this game, there was no other alternative. The team have been struggling to find form as of late and needed a big victory to almost act as the beginning of a clean slate for the rest of the season.
Eddie Howe has come under a lot of pressure after exiting two competitions in a month and starting to fall down the league table, so it was absolutely key to put in a strong performance yesterday.
Once again, the team have proven to be at their very best when their backs are against the wall, something the Howe has instilled into his players.
Now, they have to use this result and the confidence it has given them to finish the season strong and to try and get back into the European positions, though Champions League may be out of their reach.
