Canucks announce Young Stars Classic schedule in Penticton

The Vancouver Canucks have revealed the schedule and ticketing details for the upcoming Young Stars Classic, now in its 11th year, which will be hosted at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton, BC. Scheduled from September 13th to September 16th, 2024, this event promises to showcase promising young talents from the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Winnipeg Jets. The format includes a round-robin tournament among the NHL teams, along with an exhibition match featuring the local BCHL team, the Penticton Vees, against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

Last season saw the Canucks start strong with a 7-1 victory over the Flames, contributing to their overall record of 2-0-0-1. This year’s schedule kicks off with Calgary facing Winnipeg on Friday, September 13th, at 4:00 PM PT, followed by Vancouver taking on Edmonton later that evening at 7:30 PM PT. The following day features the Penticton Vees versus Salmon Arm at 3:00 PM PT, followed by Calgary against Edmonton at 7:30 PM PT. Sunday sees Vancouver up against Winnipeg at 2:00 PM PT, leading up to the final games on Monday, September 16th, with Winnipeg versus Edmonton at 11:00 AM PT and Calgary against Vancouver at 2:30 PM PT.

While team rosters for the tournament have yet to be finalized, Canucks fans can anticipate seeing prospects like Jonathan Lekkerimäki and Elias Pettersson, alongside recent draftees Riley Patterson, Anthony Romani, Parker Alcos, and Basile Sansonnens. There is uncertainty regarding the availability of Melvin Fernström, who may be committed to playing overseas for the 2024-25 season.

In addition to the Young Stars Classic, the Canucks have also announced details for their official Training Camp, which follows the tournament weekend. Fans have the option to purchase combined tickets for both events, allowing them to witness the progression from young prospects to established NHL stars. Packages will go on sale to the public on July 29th at 10:00 AM PT, available at the Valley First Box Office at the SOEC or online through ValleyFirstTix.com. Prices for full tournament packages, encompassing all NHL games and the Penticton Vees exhibition, start at $115.00 for adults and $75.00 for children aged 12 and under.
