Following the conclusion of SEC Media Days, the official All-SEC preseason teams, voted on by media members, were announced on Friday morning. The Georgia Bulldogs garnered significant recognition, with a notable presence on both the first and second teams.
Compared to the previous season where they boasted eight selections, Georgia saw five of their defensive players make the cut this year. Leading the pack, three Bulldogs earned spots on the first team, contributing to their league-leading six first-team selections. Among them, defensive tackle Nazir Stackhouse stood out alongside fellow linemen James Pearce Jr. from Tennessee, Walter Nolen from Ole Miss, and Deone Walker from Kentucky. Linebacker Mykel Williams joined a formidable group that included Harold Perkins from LSU, Danny Stutsman from Oklahoma, and Deontae Lawson from Alabama. Notably, standout safety Malaki Starks also secured a spot, sharing the position with Malachi Moore from Alabama.
On the second team, linebacker Smael Mondon represented Georgia as the sole defender, while cornerback Daylen Everette received recognition on the third team. Adding to the Bulldogs’ presence, former players Major Burns from LSU and Jamon Dumas-Johnson from Kentucky were named to the second and third teams respectively. Punter Brett Thorson rounded out the Georgia selections with a spot on the second team for special teams.
This year’s lineup reflects a slightly reduced but still formidable representation for Georgia in the preseason rankings, showcasing their continued strength in defensive prowess within the SEC. As the season approaches, these selections set high expectations for the Bulldogs’ defensive unit, highlighting key players expected to make significant impacts on the field.
