The New Jersey Devils have bolstered their roster by signing forward Adam Beckman to a one-year, two-way contract, announced by general manager Tom Fitzgerald on Monday. This deal, valued at an NHL-level annual average value (AAV) of $775,000, also includes a minor-league salary of $125,000, with $150,000 guaranteed.
Beckman, who recently concluded his entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild, was acquired by the Devils on June 21 in exchange for Graeme Clarke. Originally drafted by the Wild in the third round of the 2019 NHL Draft (75th overall), Beckman distinguished himself in junior hockey with the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League. In a standout 2019-2020 season, he amassed 107 points, earning accolades such as the Bobby Clarke Trophy for leading scorer and the Four Broncos Trophy for player of the year.
Transitioning to professional hockey during the 2020-2021 season, Beckman split his time between the Minnesota Wild and their AHL affiliate, the Iowa Wild. His recent season showcased a career-high 11 games played with Minnesota, where he contributed two assists. In AHL competition, Beckman accumulated 19 goals and 14 assists over 51 games, approaching his previous season’s 36-point mark.
To date, Beckman has logged 23 NHL games with three assists and 181 AHL appearances, tallying 57 goals and 51 assists. He also made his Calder Cup Playoff debut in 2023, underscoring his progression and readiness for higher-level play.
With Beckman’s signing, the Devils have secured 47 out of a possible 50 standard player contracts for the upcoming season, leaving them with approximately $6.765 million in projected cap space for the 2024-2025 campaign. This move not only strengthens New Jersey’s depth but also underscores their commitment to integrating promising talent into their lineup for the coming season.
